A little of this and a little of that makes for a fun lead up to Thanksgiving!
My pictures also loaded a little out of order, so bear with me if things get a little confusing this week!
We made Mayflower boats (some crafty ideas out there in blogland!) out of cheese, orange slices, and pretzels. The kids did a magazine search for examples of fruit to add to their “food pyramid” plates. It was a little confusing between the fruits and vegetables, but hopefully they are getting that they are both pretty great for them to be eating!
We are working on Author's Purpose. We learned that one of the reasons author's write stories is to entertain us. We read lots of entertaining books and then wrote our own about Albuquerque Turkey! The kids helped out by using whiteboards to help me sound out the words I was writing.
We did the US Symbol the bald eagle. We read lots of books about the bald eagle and made our own bald eagles by tracing our hands and feet! We will be adding some bald eagle writing on the bottom of the pictures.
We also did some learning about the Mayflower in preparation for Thanksgiving. We made Mayflower suitcases with everything the kids thought they would need to take on that long journey. Some of them were hilarious!
